Review: 2019 Toyota Avalon

The 2019 Avalon engine is a 3.5-liter V6 matched with an 8-speed automatic providing 301 horsepower. The set up reaches an EPA-rated 22 MPG city, 32 MPG highway and 26 MPG combined in XLE trim.

The Avalon Hybrid model returns for 2019 and it matches a 176 horsepower inline-4 with electric motors and batteries for a combined 215 horsepower. If you’re focused on fuel efficiency, the Avalon Hybrid is EPA rated at 43 MPG city, highway and combined.

Features & Technology

The base trim for the 2019 Toyota Avalon is the XLE. The XLE trim equips your sedan with synthetic leather upholstery, power features, 17-inch wheels, moonroof, 7.0-inch driver information display, five USB ports, active safety systems, and a 9.0-inch infotainment touchscreen with Apple CarPlay compatibility, Bluetooth connectivity and more.

The top-of-the-line Avalon trim is the Touring model. This trim adds a heated steering wheel, heated and cooled front seats, heated rear seats, synthetic leather upholstery with suede inserts, 19-inch wheels, premium JBL audio, navigation, heads-up display, and adaptive shock absorbers.


Every 2019 Toyota Avalon is equipped with Toyota Safety SenseTM P. This includes a rearview camera, forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitors, active lane control, and adaptive cruise control. Also standard is an emergency assistance feature to notify first responders in a crash, call for help to fix a stranded car or track a stolen Avalon.
