Sneak Peek: 2020 Toyota GR Supra

After more than two decades, the Toyota Supra is returning to the market with new styling, an impressive engine, and advanced safety features. Visit Longo Toyota in El Monte so you can be one of the first to drive home this thrilling sports car that delivers world-class power, performance, and handling.

This fifth-generation design begins with an athletic stance where the engine has been moved back to optimize the center of gravity, creating a 50:50 front/rear weight distribution while heightening the aerodynamic balance. Additionally, the flared rear spoiler helps reduce body lift. An active differential and adaptive suspension, Brembo® front brakes, and Michelin® Pilot® Super Sport tires for a high-performance drive, are utilized. The “double-bubble” roof adds space inside the two-seat cabin as well as lessens the aerodynamic drag outside.

A 3.0-liter twin-scroll turbocharged inline six-cylinder engine with direct fuel injection powers the 3.0 and 3.0 Premium grades. The engine is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters. The new Supra has a rear-wheel drivetrain and generates 335-hp and 365 lb-ft of torque. With a top speed of 155 mph and a 0-60 mph acceleration in just 4.1 seconds, the new GR Supra is the quickest Toyota-branded production vehicle to date. Driving modes include Normal and Sport settings. When you engage the Sport mode, the exhaust sound is amplified as the engine is revved and gives that desired race-car sound during downshifts.

Toyota stays focused on safety when designing new cars, so the soon to be launched 2020 GR Supra is no exception. The new Supra comes standard with automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, forward collision warning, lane departure warning with steering assist, automatic high beams, road sign assist, and a rearview camera. Optional safety features consist of blind spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert, rear-end collision warning, and adaptive full speed cruise control.
