Review: 2019 Toyota Prius Prime


The 2019 Toyota Prius Prime is a compact hybrid vehicle with a hatchback body style that comfortably seats up to four passengers. The Plus, Premium, and Advanced trim levels of the 2019 Prius Prime are powered by a 1.8-liter four-cylinder VVT-i engine and two electric motors coupled with an electronically controlled continuously variable transmission with a front-wheel drivetrain. This combined powertrain makes 121-hp and achieves an estimated 53 mpg highway and 55 mpg city, and 133 MPGe. The Prius Prime has an estimated 25-mile electric power driving range, and a 640-mile EPA estimated total driving range. The available Predictive Fuel-Efficient Drive helps improve your fuel-efficiency by monitoring your regular stopping patterns. 

Technology and Convenience

The Entune® App suite with a 7-inch high-resolution touch-screen displays traffic, weather, fuel prices, and even stock updates and comes standard along with navigation, Bluetooth® hands-free technology with voice recognition, SiriusXM® satellite radio, and a Smart Key system on the driver's door with push-button start. Optional features include an 11.6-inch HD multimedia touch-screen, Qi-compatible wireless charging, a head-up display, and Prime apps which allows you to remotely adjust the climate, find a charging station, locate your vehicle, and schedule a charge. By scheduling your charge in advance, you have the opportunity to save on electricity rates by charging during off-peak hours.


Toyota Safety Sense™ incorporates a pre-collision system with pedestrian detection, dynamic radar cruise control, lane departure with steering assist, and automatic high beams to help protect you and your passengers.
