Review: 2019 Toyota Yaris Sedan



The 2019 Toyota Yaris sedan, known in the past as Yaris iA, is a four-door subcompact, fun-to-drive car. With its high fuel economy, it’s a great daily commuting vehicle, perfect for drivers in the Los Angeles area. Design

The 2019 Yaris subcompact sedan is designed with a new race-inspired honeycomb grille, modern LED headlights, and chrome-tipped exhaust. Integrated fog lights which accent the front of the vehicle, LED daytime running lights, 16-inch split-spoke alloy wheels with a gunmetal finish, and a rear lip spoiler are optional. The interior design consists of contoured sport seats, steering wheel-mounted controls, a 60/40 split-folding rear seat, piano-black accents, and 13.49 cubic feet of cargo volume. Leatherette seats with unique contrast stitching are available.

Performance

The new Yaris sedan is powered by a direct-injected 1.5-liter 4-cylinder engine with a front-wheel drivetrain which produces 106-hp and 103 lb-ft of torque. The L and LE trims come standard with a 6-speed manual transmission which earns an EPA-estimated 39 mpg highway and 30 mpg city. The XLE trim is coupled with a 6-speed automatic transmission and achieves an estimated 40 mpg highway and 32 mpg city. An independent MacPherson strut front suspension and a torsion beam rear suspension are utilized to deliver a smooth ride. Optional is Sport driving mode for an improved torque feel.

Technology

A 7-inch touch-screen infotainment system with six speakers, two USB ports, Bluetooth®, SiriusXM® satellite radio, HD Radio™, voice recognition, and remote keyless entry are standard interior features. Technology is also utilized for added safety. Standard safety features consist of a low-speed pre-collision system and rearview camera, while available features include rain-sensing windshield wipers and turn signal indicators built into the outside mirrors.
