2023 Toyota bZ4X Overview

2023 Toyota bZ4X

With more and more drivers switching from gas to electric, automobile manufacturers such as Toyota have been hard at work. A leader in the hybrid league, Toyota has come out with their bZ, or beyond zero, emissions initiative. We're proud to introduce the 2023 Toyota bZ4X, an all-electric SUV with the style, ease, and convenience that comes from the Toyota name. Here are all of the top features of the 2023 Toyota bZ4X and more regarding performance, comfort, safety, and more.

The 2023 Toyota bZ4X

2023 Toyota bZ4X

The 2023 Toyota bZ4X name might seem confusing at first, but the bZ stands for Beyond Zero emissions, the number 4 indicates the vehicle size, and the X stands for the SUV body style. You can get the 2023 Toyota bZ4X in two trim levels, the XLE and the Limited. This all-new all-electric vehicle offers the practicality you expect from an EV, the size and comfort you expect from an SUV, and the satisfying power and performance you expect from Toyota.

Exterior Features and Options

With two available trim levels, the bZ4X offers you a bold, customizable exterior design. There's but one standard color, Black, though you can opt for White, Silver, Red, or Gray for an additional cost. The Limited can be paired with a stylish black roof as well. On the XLE, you'll notice 18-inch alloy wheels with covers, a unique center bumper with a thin lower grille, and black window trim.

Moving up to the Limited adds 20-inch machine-finished multi-spoke wheels with gray accents, a foot-activated power liftgate, and chrome window trim. You can also add a split roof rear spoiler. Each trim showcases the unique hammerhead hood design with a bold black-painted accent, a ducktail rear spoiler, and black-painted overfenders with front air curtains.

Convenient Charging

Charging has never been easier or more convenient than it is with the 2023 bZ4X. There are three levels of charging options available. Level 1 is 120-Volt, an excellent choice for drivers with shorter commutes, allowing you to go from low battery to a 100% charge using a common household outlet. It charges at about four miles per hour of charging time.

Level 2 is a 240-Volt that offers faster charging in your home at about 23 miles per hour of charge time. Installation is easy and will allow your bZ4X to charge in about 9.5 hours fully. Lastly, there's the Level 3 or the DC Fast Charging option. A charging station takes you from a low battery light to about an 80% charge in around 30 minutes on the front-wheel-drive or 60 minutes with the all-wheel-drive. This method is currently only available at public charging stations. In the El Monte area? You can find a helpful guide to El Monte EV charging locations in our post!

All-Electric Power

The bZ4X is the first-ever Toyota to use the new Toyota New Global Architecture platform, specifically for Toyota electric vehicles. This allows for a steady, comfortable ride and outstanding performance. The electric power delivers nearly instant torque. The front-wheel-drive produces 201 horsepower and a max of 196 pound-feet, while the all-wheel-drive version will deliver 248 pound-feet of torque and 214 horsepower.

An EPA-estimated 252-mile range allows you to go further without stopping to charge. Regenerative braking is utilized to help capture some of the energy that would otherwise be lost. The powerful electric motor can also be paired with the available all-wheel-drive system with X-Mode so you can drive with confidence in rain, snow, mud, and other road conditions if the need arises.

Advanced Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 System

The 2023 bZ4X comes with the advanced Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 program to help keep you out of harm's way and help you drive with confidence. It includes a pre-collision system with pedestrian detection, a lane departure alert with steering assist, and lane tracing assist. The road sign assist program detects stop signs, speed limit signs, and more and displays them clearly for you to see.

The full-speed range dynamic radar cruise control system is intended for highway use and allows you to drive at a predetermined speed. It uses distance control to help your vehicle maintain a safe distance from the vehicle in front of you.

Comfort and Interior Design

The interior of the all-new bZ4X offers the warmth, comfort, and space your family deserves. The open layout provides abundant cargo and legroom so that nobody has to sacrifice their space. Inside the XLE, you'll notice a leather-trimmed steering wheel, dial-type shift knob, and fabric/Softex-trimmed seats. You also get dual-zone automatic climate control, a soft-touch fabric dashboard, and a convenient cargo area tonneau cover.

The Limited has additional features such as a heated leather-trimmed steering wheel, heated and ventilated front seats with available heated rear seats, and ambient floor lighting. Whichever trim level you decide works best for your lifestyle will surround you with premium features to help keep you relaxed and ready for your next ride.

Connectivity and Technology

The bZ4X comes with advanced connectivity and technology features to help keep you connected to the world around you. A Qi-compatible wireless smartphone charger will help keep all your devices at full battery. You'll also find several charging and media ports throughout the vehicle. A standard 12.3-inch multimedia screen will display information from your phone, thanks to wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. This connectivity will allow you to make calls, access your navigation system, and easily turn on your favorite playlist.

An available JBL premium audio system comes with a subwoofer, 800-watt sound system, and nine speakers to provide you with an immersive listening experience.

The 2026 Toyota C-HR: A Complete Electric Transformation

Toyota's electric comeback car is here, and it's not just a new version; it's a whole new vehicle. The 2026 Toyota C-HR has evolved into something entirely different from its gas-powered ancestor. This electric crossover packs impressive muscle, cutting-edge tech, and head-turning looks that might just change how you view Toyota's electric vehicles (EVs). So, should you be excited about the 2026 C-HR? Our team at Longo Toyota in El Monte, California, is here with a Toyota C-HR review to help you decide if it's the right car for you. more Performance and Powertrain The all-electric 2026 Toyota C-HR will be available in SE and XSE trims, both more powerful than their predecessors, with a 74.7 kWh battery pack and dual electric motors that produce 338 horsepower. The C-HR is expected to go from 0 to 60 mph in about 5 seconds, which is impressive for what used to be a fairly average family car. All-wheel drive comes standard thanks to motors at both ends, giving you instant acceleration and a top speed of 112 mph. The e-TNGA platform delivers better handling than older Toyota electric cars thanks to a stiffer body and an improved suspension setup. With batteries mounted in the floor, the car stays planted in corners, and you'll be able to adjust regenerative braking through four different settings using paddle shifters, letting you control how aggressively it slows when you lift off the gas. Range, Charging, and Efficiency Toyota says the new C-HR will go about 290 miles on a full charge, Although EPA MPGe estimates have not been released yet, most electric cars have better efficiency in city driving than highway cruising. If you're stuck in I-10 traffic, this means you'll do better in stop-and-go conditions than on open roads, which is a nice bonus if you're a daily commuter. For a quick charge, Toyota estimates that the C-HR will be able to go from 10% to 80% battery in about 30 minutes with DC fast charging, peaking at 150 kW. At home, the 11 kW onboard charger with Level 2 equipment will likely let you top up the battery overnight. It will have an NACS port that works with Tesla Superchargers, opening up access to over 12,000 charging stations across North America, and will also be charged from Level 1 power sources. The C-HR will also have a preconditioning function that warms up or cools down the battery before charging to get the best speeds, no matter the weather. Interior Design and Technology Inside, the base SE trim will have heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, a power liftgate, wireless phone charging pads, and a 14-inch touch screen for music and climate control. The digital dash sits high up with custom layouts, while wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto work with multiple USB-C ports and dual Bluetooth. There's also 25.4 cubic feet of cargo space, which allows the C-HR to compete with the Hyundai KONA and the Chevrolet Equinox EV. SE models feature SofTex synthetic leather, while the XSE adds synthetic suede. XSE models also include synthetic leather seats, a panoramic roof, a 360-degree camera, a digital rearview mirror, and 20-inch wheels. The JBL Premium Audio package includes nine speakers and an 800-watt amp. Pricing, Release Timeline, and Availability Toyota hasn't provided specific pricing or release date information yet, just saying it will arrive sometime in 2026. However, if the Toyota C-HR price falls within the expected $30K-$38K range, it will be an attractive proposition compared to other affordable EVs. At Longo Toyota, we can't wait to start offering the C-HR, but widespread preorder info isn't available yet as Toyota figures out production timing and which dealers will get how many cars. Unlike some EV makers that limit early sales to specific regions, Toyota will offer the 2026 C-HR nationwide from the start, following its typical approach for mainstream models. Your Next Electric Adventure Awaits The 2026 Toyota C-HR is making the leap from boring compact to zippy electric crossover, and it could be Toyota's big EV breakthrough. If you're an El Monte driver who wants the benefits of an electric car without sacrificing Toyota reliability, the C-HR might be worth waiting for. For more information on the new C-HR, visit us at Longo Toyota. Our experienced team can give you updates on when the C-HR will arrive at our dealership and discuss your financing or trade-in options. We understand EV technology and can help you find the right car for your California lifestyle.

Toyota EVs, Hybrids, and PHEVs

Toyota Electrified Vehicles: Finding Your Perfect Match

Toyota offers an impressive lineup of more than 10 electric vehicles (EVs), spearheading the automotive industry's shift toward sustainable transportation. Since introducing the Prius in 1997, sales of Toyota EVs have prevented an estimated 176 million tons of carbon dioxide emissions globally. The brand produces hybrids, plug-in hybrids, battery EVs, and fuel cell EVs that cater to a wider range of driver needs and preferences. Read on to discover more about Toyota's electrified models. more Hybrid Vehicles Toyota's hybrid models revolutionize the perception of fuel efficiency and set new standards in the automotive industry. These vehicles combine a gas engine with electric motors and self-charge, eliminating the need for plugging in. The result is a drive that's both powerful and kind to your wallet. We're not alone in our appreciation of these great vehicles. The organization Consumer Reports indicates that hybrids have 26% fewer issues than conventional vehicles. Toyota, a pioneer of hybrid technology, is well known for its durable vehicles, and its popular hybrid models, including the Camry, RAV4, and Highlander, demonstrate the company's expertise in this field. Let's look at some statistics. The Camry Hybrid achieves up to 51 mpg in urban settings and 53 mpg on highways. If you prefer an SUV, then consider the RAV4 Hybrid, which manages up to 41 mpg in cities and 38 mpg on highways. If you need more space, the three-row Highlander Hybrid delivers 36 mpg in urban environments and 35 mpg on highways. These impressive figures translate to cost savings on fuel and reduced environmental impact. The Sienna, Landcruiser, 4Runner, Tacoma, and Tundra also offer hybrid powertrains, providing customers with more electrified options and improved fuel efficiency benefits. Toyota's hybrids are ideal for environmentally conscious drivers who still demand high performance. Plug-In Hybrid Vehicles Blending the best of both worlds, Toyota's plug-in hybrids, the RAV4 Prime and Prius Prime, offer a compelling fusion of technologies. These vehicles combine hybrid power with extended electric-only capabilities. The RAV4 Prime stands out in Toyota's electrified lineup and has an electric-only range of 42 miles, which makes it great for both daily use and longer trips. These vehicles function like conventional hybrids but offer the added benefit of plug-in capability, which provides extra electric power and enhances their environmental friendliness. The Prius Prime has a 44-mile pure electric range and an impressive 600-mile combined range from a full gas tank and a fully charged battery. The RAV4 Prime is notable for its reliability. According to Consumer Reports, this model stands out as one of the most reliable options available in its category. Battery EVs Toyota's dedicated battery EV, the bZ4X, showcases the company's commitment to sustainable mobility. This all-electric SUV marks the Japanese automaker's entry into the world of battery EVs. The front-wheel-drive version offers a range of 252 miles, which is suitable for both city driving and longer trips. The vehicle offers various charging options, including Level 1 (120V) and Level 2 (240V) at-home or public charging. With DC fast charging, you can fill the battery to 80% in about an hour. Currently, the bZ4X is the only battery EV Toyota offers in the U.S., but the company plans to introduce more models in the near future. Fuel Cell EVs Toyota's Mirai is at the forefront of fuel cell EV tech. This car runs on hydrogen, which is used to generate power for its motors. It's an eco-friendly vehicle, emitting just water vapor and warm air. The vehicle can travel about 402 miles on a single tank, which is further than many battery cars. Hydrogen-powered motors are more efficient and cleaner than traditional gas engines. However, they're limited by the lack of available hydrogen refueling stations. Despite this, you can refuel them quickly, and they can travel far, which appeals to many consumers. Hydrogen-powered cars might be the vehicles of the future, as they're part of the effort to develop cleaner modes of transportation. If you're environmentally conscious, consider a fuel cell EV. Which Electrified Toyota Is Best for You? Before choosing an EV, it's essential to evaluate your driving requirements and charging options. If you live in a rural area where the EV charging infrastructure is inadequate or nonexistent, the best option for you is likely a hybrid or plug-in hybrid vehicle. However, if you live in an area with well-developed EV charging facilities, you can enjoy substantial savings on your vehicle ownership costs with a pure EV. Nevertheless, a plug-in hybrid or hybrid might still be the most suitable option if you often take long trips, as they eliminate range anxiety, allowing you to enjoy your travels with peace of mind.
