2024 Toyota bZ3X

Toyota plans to launch 10 new electric vehicles (EVs) by 2026. This is part of its plan to expand its range of zero-emissions vehicles and become a carbon-neutral automaker. The 2024 Toyota bZ3X is part of Toyota’s Beyond Zero model lineup that’s designed to minimize impact on the planet. Details around its engine, battery size, and driving range have yet to be officially confirmed by Toyota. However, in this article our team at Longo Toyota in El Monte, California, take a look at what you can reasonably expect from the bZ3X.

Toyota’s EV Coupe: What We Know So Far

Toyota has yet to confirm a release date for the 2024 Toyota bZ3X. However, we expect the company to release it to the market before the end of 2023. As a carryover model, the bZ3X could have a similar design but a slightly smaller, lightweight build to the 2023 Toyota bZ4X that’s currently on sale.

The entry-level electric crossover could feature a coupe-like roof and muscular shoulders. We expect a hammerhead shark front styling with short overhangs, two-tone wheels, and contrasting exterior colors. We predict the bZ3X to feature four-part LED headlamps, C-shaped LED daytime running lights, and wrap-around taillights. It could also have plastic body cladding for a sporty and confident look. With a focus on keeping costs down, Toyota will probably have to sacrifice a bit of power and driving range for this model.

Power and Performance

Toyota has yet to release the specifics for the 2024 Toyota bZ3X engine specs. However, we expect impressive performance because of its sustainable all-electric powertrain. Based on the current bZ4X, we believe the bZ3X will have a single-motor front-wheel-drive (FWD) system. It could also have a dual-motor all-wheel-drive (AWD) system with multiple terrain modes. With instant torque delivered by the electric motor, you can look forward to rapid acceleration and a quiet ride.

That being said, we don’t expect the bZ3X to be much more powerful than the bZ4X. The current version delivers 201 horsepower and 196 lb-ft of torque with its FWD single motor. When equipped with AWD and dual motors, the bZ4X delivers 107 horsepower and 124 lb-ft of torque from each motor for a combined 214 horsepower and 248 lb-ft of torque. We assume that the bZ3X will be underpinned on the same electric-Toyota New Global Architecture platform as the larger bZ4X. If so, we can expect similar crisp handling and a comfortable ride.

Electric Driving Range

The 2024 Toyota bZ3X range depends on the size of the battery pack Toyota gifts it. We expect it to have a battery offering anything between 65 to 75 kWh. If this is the case, we expect the battery packs to deliver a combined system output of over 210 horsepower. It could last between 240 and 270 miles before needing a recharge. However, Toyota hasn’t released the battery specs yet. We’ll update this page with the latest information when it’s available.

Charging Time

The bZ4X charges to 80% in around 30 minutes with a 150 kW DC fast charger for the FWD model and a 100 kW DC fast charger for the AWD model. We don’t expect the bZ3X to have a much larger battery than this, so it should recharge in around the same time.

2024 Toyota bZ3X Zero-To-60-Mph Time

The bZ4X accelerates from zero to 60 mph in 7.2 seconds. The 2024 Toyota bZ3X could offer even more rapid acceleration because of its presumably lighter build. With a single electric motor, you could expect the 2024 Toyota bz3X to go from zero to 60 mph in less than seven seconds. If equipped with the higher output dual-motor, it could do it in as little as six seconds.

Interior Comfort and Features

Toyota has a reputation for comfort and ride quality, and we expect this model to be no different. Based on the bZ4X, we expect the bZ3X to have a minimalist look but a spacious and roomy interior for front and rear passengers. It could feature sustainable upholstery and trims, ergonomic and comfy seats, and multiple storage pockets and cubbies. We expect adjustable seating and Toyota’s advanced noise-canceling technology to maintain the dependable comfort it’s known for.

While the base bZ4X has a 7-inch digital instrument cluster and a 12.3-inch touch screen, we’re hoping for dual 12.3-inch digital displays in the bZ3X. This includes an advanced digital instrument cluster and touch-screen infotainment system with support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Other expected features include dual-zone climate control, wireless charging, and a panoramic sunroof. The bZ4X base also comes standard with six speakers, a wireless charging pad, and satellite radio. It boasts four USB-C ports, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and navigation. Available features include a nine-speaker JBL audio system and a digital key.

Safety Features

We anticipate the bZ3X will come with many of the same safety features as the bZ4X. This includes advanced driver-assistance systems for enhanced safety. The bZ4X currently comes with Toyota Safety Sense 3.0, which includes automatic high beams, a pre-collision system with pedestrian detection, lane departure warnings, dynamic radar cruise control, road sign assistance, and lane tracing assistance. For peace of mind while driving your EV, we expect the 2024 Toyota bZ3X to have more information on the instrument cluster, including details about the vehicle charging status and driving range.

Expected Price

Positioned below the bZ4X in Toyota’s range of SUVs, we can reasonably assume the 2024 Toyota bZ3X will cost less than the bZ4X. However, we expect it to offer much better value. The bZ4X has a starting MSRP of $42,000, so we can expect the bZ3X to have a starting MSRP of around $38,000 to $40,000.

Take the 2024 Toyota bZ3X for a Test Drive

The 2024 Toyota bZ3X is set to offer a great-value entry-level alternative to the larger existing bZ4X. While we don’t think it’ll have more powerful engines or batteries than the existing model, we do expect many of the same incredible features. Not to mention a more affordable price point.
