2024 Toyota Land Cruiser

The Toyota Land Cruiser is back — and it’s better than ever. The powerhouse SUV makes its triumphant return in 2024, ending its three-year hiatus on the market. In those three years, Toyota has revamped the Land Cruiser, equipping it with new hybrid power while ensuring it’s just as off-road ready as you remember. Explore this one-stop guide to discover everything you need to know about the 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser, including its cost, convenience, and capabilities.

Why Did Toyota Stop Making/Discontinue the Land Cruiser?

Toyota discontinued production of the Land Cruiser in 2021, stating the SUV would not return for the 2022 model year. Even at the time, there were hints that Toyota planned to bring back the beloved off-roader in the future. Sales spiked significantly after the automaker’s announcement, and sources told multiple outlets that there could be a return of the Land Cruiser in a few years.

Sure enough, Toyota revealed in July that it would return the Land Cruiser to its lineup in 2024, proving yet again that you can’t keep a good thing down for long. “With 65 years of heritage, you can choose to slow down or reinvent yourself. We chose the latter,” Toyota said in a news release at the time. Over the last few years, it’s clear Toyota has carefully considered how to keep the Land Cruiser true to its off-roading roots while also making the SUV accessible to everyone, whether you prefer to hit the road or the trails.

2024 Toyota Land Cruiser Cost and Trims

Toyota hasn’t released official details about pricing for the 2024 Land Cruiser, but the automaker has said it will have a starting MSRP in the mid-$50,000 range. That’s lower than the last time the SUV was on the market, which is largely due to its smaller frame. The new Land Cruiser will strictly be a two-row vehicle with seating for five passengers. While smaller, the 2024 Land Cruiser isn’t any less capable on rugged terrain than previous models. With its narrower body and hybrid power, the all-new Land Cruiser is ready to kick up some dirt.

With a simple grade structure, the 2024 Land Cruiser will come in two trims: the Land Cruiser 1958 and Land Cruiser. In addition, Toyota will release a limited number of Land Cruisers in a First Edition trim for the first two months of production. The Land Cruiser First Edition models will feature a striking two-tone exterior and come with additional off-road equipment such as a roof rack, a front skid plate, and rock rails.

2024 Toyota Land Cruiser Performance and Capability

New-generation Land Cruisers will get a hybrid powertrain across the lineup for increased efficiency. A turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine pairs with two electric motors, generating a total output of 326 horsepower and 465 lb-ft of torque. Every Land Cruiser will also have an eight-speed automatic transmission and standard four-wheel drive. The system sends power continuously to the front and rear axles for enhanced traction on challenging roads. A center-locking differential provides additional off-roading capabilities with the touch of a button.

The all-new Land Cruiser effortlessly blends form and function, using a body-on-frame platform and a high-strength steel chassis. The available Multi-Terrain Select system allows you to adjust the settings depending on whether you’re driving over mud, dirt, or sand. A standard Crawl Control function controls braking and acceleration when you’re driving at lower speeds on difficult terrain, meaning you can focus on steering. Plus, a Multi-Terrain Monitor gives you additional confidence by showing you potential obstacles on the trail through the SUV’s touch-screen display. The new Land Cruiser is built for all the roads — or non-roads — you might encounter.

2024 Toyota Land Cruiser Design

True to its roots, the all-new Land Cruiser will make its signature statement on the Southern California roadways. The 1958 trim features a classic, simplified style, with retro LED headlights and a bold heritage front grille. It has the same squared body profile as previous Land Cruiser generations. The Land Cruiser trim features rectangular LED headlights and color-selectable LED fog lights. Every Land Cruiser rides on 18-inch wheels with all-season tires, meaning you’re ready for any adventure.

Inside, the 2024 Land Cruiser spares no expense when it comes to your comfort and convenience. The Land Cruiser 1958 comes with black fabric seats, heated front seats, and a heated steering wheel. By upgrading to the Land Cruiser trim, you’ll get synthetic leather seats, plus heated and ventilated front seats for ultimate luxury. The limited Land Cruiser First Edition models come exclusively with leather-trimmed seats and a unique “First Edition” logo on the door panels.

2024 Toyota Land Cruiser Technology and Driver Assistance

As part of its revamp, the 2024 Land Cruiser will come with the latest state-of-the-art technology and driver-assistance features. An 8-inch touch screen comes standard in the Land Cruiser 1958, while the other two trims get a larger 12.3-inch screen. All Land Cruisers get Toyota’s multimedia system, featuring wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility. Dual front-row USB charging ports and a wireless charging pad also come standard, so you don’t have to worry about your phone dying when you’re off the grid. Plus, the Land Cruiser offers available Wi-Fi hotspot connectivity for up to five devices.

Whether you’re running errands in El Monte, California, or heading out on a backcountry adventure, you’re sure to feel safe and secure behind the wheel of a 2024 Land Cruiser. The SUV comes standard with Toyota Safety Sense 3.0, a suite of advanced safety and driver-assistance features. They include:

  • Pre-collision system with pedestrian detection.
  • Lane departure alert with steering assist.
  • Dynamic radar cruise control.
  • Lane tracing assist.
  • Road sign assist.
  • Automatic high-beam headlights.

The new Toyota Safety Sense system also includes proactive driving assist. This system uses the SUV’s camera and radar to assist with certain driving tasks, such as distance control between vehicles and gentle braking into curves.
