2024 Toyota RAV4 vs Honda CR-V

Whether you need a new vehicle for your daily commute or want one to take on your next family vacation, you have plenty of options in the small SUV market. Two that stand out are the Toyota RAV4 and Honda CR-V. So, how do you decide which is best for you? Our Longo Toyota team in El Monte, California, invites you to explore the features of the 2024 Toyota RAV4 versus the 2024 Honda CR-V to help you make that decision. Check out these top features before scheduling your next test drive at Longo Toyota.

Trims Available

The 2024 Toyota RAV4 is sold in six gas-powered trims: LE, XLE, XLE Premium, Adventure, TRD Off-Road, and Limited. The RAV4 has 18 different exterior color options, including Wind Chill Pearl, Cavalry Blue, Ruby Flare Pearl, Army Green, and Silver Sky Metallic, many with an Ice Edge or Black Metallic roof option for a head-turning appearance.

You can also get your RAV4 in one of seven electrified versions: Hybrid LE, Hybrid XLE, Hybrid Woodland Edition, Hybrid XLE Premium, Hybrid SE, Hybrid XSE, and Hybrid Limited. Finally, the RAV4 Prime is a plug-in hybrid version in two trims: SE and XSE.

The base LE features rear privacy glass, dual chrome-tipped exhaust, power outside mirrors with folding features, and 17-inch steel wheels with silver six-spoke wheel covers. You also get LED lighting, including projector beam headlights, daytime running lights, and taillights. Higher trims add a height-adjustable power liftgate with jam protection, power tilt/slide moonroof with one-touch open/close, integrated LED fog lights, roof rails with cross bars, rain-sensing wipers, and heated power outside mirrors with integrated turn signal indicators and blind-spot warning.

You can purchase the 2024 Honda CR-V in three traditional trim options: LX, EX, and EX-L. The CR-V is sold in eight colors, including Urban Gray Pearl, Radiant Red Metallic, Still Night Pearl, and Crystal Black Pearl. A Sport Hybrid, Sport L-Hybrid, and Sport Touring Hybrid are also available for those who wish to decrease their carbon footprint.

Standard features include LED headlights and taillights, power side mirrors with integrated turn signal indicators, and 17-inch steel wheels. Moving up trim levels adds a one-touch power moonroof with a tilt feature, rear privacy glass, dual chrome exhaust finishers, roof rails, and a power tailgate with programmable height.

With more color options and standard exterior features, the 2024 RAV4 will garner more attention on the road as you pass by other drivers.

Power and Performance

Under the hood of the gas-powered RAV4 trims, you’ll find a 2.5-liter Dynamic Force four-cylinder engine with an eight-speed automatic transmission that produces 203 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque. The hybrid versions of the RAV4 use the same engine matched to a hybrid system and continuously variable automatic transmission to deliver 219 combined net horsepower and 176 lb-ft of torque. The RAV4 Prime garners 302 combined horsepower from the four-cylinder engine. Front-wheel drive is standard on the gas-powered trims, with an available all-wheel drive, which is standard on all hybrid options.

In the 2024 Honda CR-V, you get an inline four-cylinder turbocharged engine with a continuously variable automatic transmission that gets 190 horsepower and 179 lb-ft of torque. The hybrid trims feature an inline four-cylinder engine matched to an electronic continuously variable transmission for 204 total system horsepower. Front-wheel drive is standard on the CR-V, but you can upgrade to an all-wheel-drive system for better traction and control over various conditions. Whether you opt for a traditional gas-powered or hybrid SUV, the RAV4 gives you more power to improve the overall performance and driving experience.

Interior Design

Slide behind the wheel of the 2024 Toyota RAV4 to discover a cabin created for passenger and driver comfort and convenience. Features available on higher trims include:

Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (MSRP)

With more standard features, color options, and power, you’d expect the 2024 Toyota RAV4 to be priced higher than the 2024 Honda CR-V, but that isn’t the case. The base LE starting MSRP is $28,475 for front-wheel drive and $29,875 for all-wheel drive. The Hybrid Limited features the highest price tag at $39,780 on the RAV4. The 2024 Honda CR-V base LX starts at $29,500, with the Sport Touring Hybrid at a starting MSRP of $39,850. Regardless of your trim level, you’ll save money with the RAV4 over the CR-V.
