2024 Toyota RAV4

The Toyota RAV4 has been on the market for 30 years, and it’s no surprise that this compact SUV has maintained its popularity for so long. It’s a versatile vehicle that can handle a wide range of situations, from transporting families to commuting and long-distance travel. The RAV4 is a reliable SUV that’s loaded with technology and comes in a variety of trims, making it suitable for every driver and driving requirement. Let’s explore how you can utilize your 2024 Toyota RAV4 for off-roading, running errands, and everything in between.

Exterior Design Elements

The 2024 RAV4 lineup starts with the LE. It has 17-inch steel wheels and LED lighting throughout, including the headlights, taillights, and daytime running lights. Up next is the XLE. This model adds alloy wheels, heated side exterior mirrors, roof rails, variable intermittent windshield wipers, and Toyota’s Smart Key keyless entry system with sensor door handles. The XLE Premium has 19-inch metallic-finished alloy wheels, a power moonroof, a height-adjustable power liftgate, and LED fog lights.

The Limited delivers more luxury features for drivers who want to upgrade. It has active grille shutters, bi-LED projector headlights, and side mirror puddle lights. The available foot-activated hands-free power liftgate helps you access the back quickly, even if your hands are full. Just swipe your foot under the back bumper, and the liftgate will open right up.

Off-Road Capabilities

The 2024 Toyota RAV4 is ideal for off-roading if you choose the Adventure or TRD Off-Road trims. The Adventure lives up to its name by adding features that help you tackle rough terrain with ease. It has Toyota’s torque-vectoring all-wheel drive system with a rear axle that disconnects and a Multi-Terrain Select system with drive modes to make the most of your off-the-beaten-path escapades.

In addition to the Mud and Sand, Rock and Dirt, Snow, and Normal drive modes, the Adventure also has hill-descent control, which helps to make easy work of descents with loose surfaces and gravel. It maintains a constant speed, so your wheels always have maximum contact with the ground.

The Toyota RAV4 TRD Off-Road has even more off-road capabilities and will give its rivals a run for their money. It builds on the Adventure’s ruggedness by adding Falken all-terrain tires. It has Toyota’s TRD-tuned suspension and adds shocks, struts, and jounce bumpers designed to handle off-road terrain.

Power and Performance

Power for all the RAV4 models comes from a 2.5-liter four-cylinder gas engine that puts out 203 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque. It works with an eight-speed automatic transmission. Front-wheel drive is standard with all trims except the Adventure and TRD Off-Road, which come with all-wheel drive. These two off-road models also increase towing power from 1,500 to 3,500 pounds.

Interior Comfort

The RAV4 has all the comforts of home, no matter what trim you choose. The two rows of seats have comfortable seating for up to five people, and there’s plenty of storage space for when you want to pack up for a weekend of off-roading adventures. Behind the rear seats, you’ll get 37.5 cubic feet of storage space, and if you fold down the rear seats, it opens up to over 69 cubic feet. The low cargo floor makes it easy to load up the back, and the cabin has many bins and shelves to store all your road trip gear.

The entry-level RAV4 has manually adjustable front seats and a 60/40 split folding rear seat. Cloth upholstery comes standard. You’ll get a power-adjustable driver’s seat in the XLE, and the optional Weather Package adds heated front seats and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. The XLE Premium builds on this with synthetic leather upholstery and a leather-trimmed steering wheel. There’s also a Weather Package for the XLE Premium that adds memory for the driver’s seat, heated front seats, and a heated steering wheel.

The TRD Off-Road has cabin amenities to keep you comfortable during your ventures, and the SofTex upholstery is easy to clean. The red accents in the cabin make it stand out, and it has TRD all-weather floor mats.

Technology Features

You’ll be ready for anything in the RAV4 with tech features to keep you connected and entertained. The lower-end models have an 8-inch touch screen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Toyota’s Connected Services open access to more tech features, including:

  •  Navigation.
  • Vehicle locator.
  • Remote start.
  • Wi-Fi hotspot.
  • Service reminders.

Starting with the TRD Off-Road, there’s a larger 10.5-inch touch screen in the dashboard’s center. It also has a wireless charging pad and an available 11-speaker JBL stereo system. The luxury-packed Limited trim also gets the 10.5-inch touch screen and adds a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel.

Safety Systems

As drivers expect in a new Toyota, the RAV4 has a full suite of active driver safety aids. No matter which trim you choose, it will have the Toyota Safety Sense 2.5 group of features. It includes:

  • Full-Speed Range Dynamic Radar Cruise Control.
  • Forward collision warning with automatic braking.
  • Pedestrian detection.
  • Traffic sign recognition.
  • Lane-keep assist.
  • Lane departure warning.
  • Automatic high-beam headlights.

Other standard safety equipment you’ll get with the 2024 RAV4 includes a full suite of air bags, a tire pressure monitor, a rearview monitor, and hill-start assist. The latter feature prevents the SUV from rolling backward if you need to stop on a steep hill.

The XLE trim and above add to all this with a blind-spot monitoring system with rear cross-traffic alert, and the XLE Premium includes front and rear parking assist.
